What is the Circular Economy?
Published by Mark Cramer on 29th Sep 2020
We know that reducing the negative impact your operations have on the environment are an integral part of your business outcomes.
The common concept of ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ is one that has been implemented into our brains for the last decade or so. But did you know that there’s more to it?
As a society, we need to embrace a what’s called a “Circular Economy”. One that meets all environmental sustainability standards by:
- Pushing the proper recycling of products that are no longer usable
- Refurbishing products that can be used by another owner
- Prolonging the lifecycles of products, packaging and other materials that are destined for a landfill without proper intervention
It has been estimated that 70% of Supply Chain Leaders are preparing to invest in the Circular Economy within the next year. As they need to find alternate solutions to meet demand and current product development. All without drastically increasing their carbon footprint or causing undue waste.
Circular Economy Models fully back initiatives that support climate change. Advise includes implementing techniques that use the SIX Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Redesign, Remanufacture and Recover.
What are the benefits?
Ultimately, as well as assisting with the fight against climate change, you are giving your company different options to meet peak demand on a budget. With options including buying refurbished devices, trade-in and recycle programs.
Within their newly implemented Circular Economy Program, Zebra Technologies have included:
- Zebra Device Buy-Back Program
- Zebra’s Certified Refurbished Device Sales and Rental Programs (With 90-Day Warranty included, and Zebra OneCare Purchase Options)
- Zebra Recycling Services
