How Labelman Ltd Will Comply to BPA Regulations

Published by Mark Cramer on 16th Dec 2019

You may now be aware that purchasing and selling BPA thermal papers will be banned in the EU as of 2nd January 2020, due to concerns about potential health risks.

BPA (Bisphenol-A) is a chemical used in the manufacturing of plastics and is used in some thermal materials as a developer. This is then used in thermal printing applications, such as box labels and tags. Not all thermal papers contain BPA, but those that do will be replaced by alternate products.

Once this regulation comes into effect, you will no longer be able to purchase thermal papers. Ultimately meaning Labelman Ltd will only be selling BPA-free goods from this date.

As a label manufacturer, and Zebra premium partner, we have extensive knowledge in thermal materials, ensuring that the thermal supplies you are using will offer you a consistent performance.

With other suppliers you may receive untested and inferior BPA free alternatives, resulting in operational downtime and disruptions, however Labelman’s promise to you is to sell certified alternate materials to provide you with the best performance.

It’s important to highlight though, that some customers may see a slight increase in printhead build-up, but with recommended printhead cleaning, you should not see a change in print quality or printhead durability.

We recommend that cleaning should occur after a certain amount of roll changes, such as followed:

Mobile Rolls – After Every 5 Rolls

Desktop Rolls – After Every 3 Rolls

Industrial Rolls – After Every Roll
